Meet the TEAM
Lauren Wieland -
creator & founder
My love for clothing and fashion began at a young age; the same goes for thrifting and second-hand shopping. For me, fashion and thrifting are two forms of art. Fashion is about finding the right articles of clothing that fit perfectly together. It is a way to express emotion, personality, and authenticity. As for the art of thrifting, this takes time, patience, and an eye that can catch a perfectly unique item on a rack full of used, dull clothing. At the age of 13, I started to thrift more, and began to do what I now know as “upcycling“ . Giving my jeans and shirts a unique, new look that I knew others would not have. Wanting to stand out and be different. Using my clothing and style as a way to express myself.
*Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products perceived to be of greater quality, such as artistic value or environmental value.*
In the summer of 2019, I created this brand as a way to sell reworked, distressed jeans and shorts I had upcycled. This soon expanded into “upcycled” shirts, jackets, and sweatshirts. I wanted to recreate items, to give them a new lease on life. Imagining ideas of how I could alter clothing to give it a new face lift, and an improved look that would make it more beautifully unique. As time has gone on, Lou Clothing Co. has began to expand. We now offer not only, thrifted clothing that has been upcycled; but also, vintage clothing that has already been perfectly designed and constructed, that I leave in its original state of excellence.
